COVID Claims We Need to Talk About: Is Omicron Mild?

“Omicron is Mild.” We all hear this often. But is this claim actually true? Just because it’s less mild than the Delta variant doesn’t mean it’s mild.

At its peak, the first Omicron wave killed more people every day than the Delta wave did. How? Because Omicron is so contagious that many more people got COVID than ever before, and because our immunity (from vaccines or prior infection) just isn’t as strong against it (which is why 3 doses of the vaccine are needed for Omicron)!
